Some things just go together !

You know how some things just go together? Like uh, peanut butter and jelly, biscuits and gravy, fried chicken and mashed "taters", hummus and khubz, roz and laban, cold weather and HOT CHOCOLATE !! Oh yea !! Now..it's not like I'm a chocoholic, but Desert Girl sent me a recipe yesterday for chocolate cake that you actually make in a cup (mug) and in the microwave no less! OMG it was awesome !! Between the cake in the mug and my big mug of hot chocolate this morning, I am on a sugar high from hell, folks. LOL

Nehoo, thought I would share a couple of recipes for the hot chocolate with ya. Hope you enjoy it.

Real Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar (or to taste)
1/2 cup cocoa
pinch of salt
2/3 cup hot water
8 cups milk
1 1/2 tsp.s vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Mix sugar, cocoa and salt in sauce pan. Stir to mix.
2. Slowly stir in the water. Boil and stir 2 minutes.
3. Stir in the milk, DO NOT let it boil. Remove from the burner and add
vanilla or a pinch of cinnamon.

This makes quite a bit of cocoa, but you can always save it for later and just re-heat it. Yummy Yummy.

Now, if you don't wanna do it the "ole fashion" way, I got a recipe for "instant hot chocolate".

Creamy Instant Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

2 cups nonfat dry milk
2-3 cups powdered sugar (or to taste)
1 cup unsweetened powdered cocoa
2 cup non-dairy powdered coffee creamer
dash of salt

Directions:

1. Combine all of the ingredients, mix until well blended.
2. Store in an air-tight container.

To make Hot Cocoa..

Spoon approx 1/3 cup (about 4 tbs.'s or according to taste) of mix into a large mug. Fill with boiling water. Stir. Top with marshmallows.

Variations:

Try sprinkling cinnamon on your hot cocoa.
Use French Vanilla creamer in place of regular. Adjust the amount of powdered sugar though. French Vanilla is very sweet.

Throw another log on the fire and enjoy, my friends.

What a busy, busy life......

Howdy Ya'll :)

I didn't realize it had been so long since I had made a post. Not that people visit everyday to read, but I missed it. The horse show and ride went great. Finally got a chance to sign on and check mine and Desert Girl's blogs and my internet went down ! Can you believe that there are still remote enough places in the US that our only option for internet is the ole dial-up ? What the crap ??

So nehoo, then it's time for Thanksgiving. Always a huge deal in my home. Kids and friends come over, we cook dishes for day's before the big event. This is when all diets are off limits. Cell phones are turned off, TV is turned off and we sit and play board games, card games, etc. I love this time of year but it's really the busiest time for me. Mares or getting ready to foal, weather is nasty, frozen water pipes to thaw out, have to break the frozen water on the ponds for the horses and cattle...and that's just the beginning. I wouldnt' change a thing though !!

We actually had a really freak snow storm here this past Sunday. It was only suppose to be snow showers and we ended up getting like 3 inches of it. Not enough to build a snowman, but there was enough to make some sweet snow icecream. Yum Yum. We are suppose to get more tomorrow, Wednesday. This is actually pretty early in the year for us to be getting this much snow this early.

Gotta go dig out my long-johns............
